Vote to adapt a conference report that provides funding for backlogged maintenance projects at public higher education institutions.
Highlight: - Establishes the state educational institution long-term infrastructure maintenance program and fund for the purpose of reducing the backlog of maintenance projects (sec. 3-4). - Authorizes $90 million to be transferred from the statewide maintenance and disaster relief fund and the state general fund to the infrastructure maintenance fund over a five-year period from 2007 until 2011 (sec. 6-7). - Authorizes the Kansas development finance authority to issue bonds of up to $100 million over five years to finance the cost of maintenance projects, with interest costs covered by appropriations from the state general fund (sec. 12). - Provides a tax credit for contributions to maintenance projects of 60% for community and technical colleges and 50% for other designated postsecondary educational institutions (sec. 16).
