Title: Clinic Regulation
Vote Smart's Synopsis:
Vote to pass a substitute bill that requires the Secretary of Health and Environment to establish standards for all office-based surgeries and special procedures, including those performed at abortion clinics, and requires stricter licensing rules for all clinics and subjects them to inspection by the Kansas Department of Health and Environment. The bill also requires the Department to issue “correction orders” to clinics or facilities that do not meet the new standards. If the clinic or facility fails to comply with the correction order they may be fined up to $5,000 for each violation. If, after the 30 day time period allowed to correct violations, a clinic is still found to be in violation of the standards they will receive a separate violation for each consecutive day that the violation goes uncorrected.
