Title: Prohibiting Health Insurance Mandates
Vote Smart's Synopsis:
Vote to pass a resolution that submits a constitutional amendment to the voters that states that no law or rule shall compel a person, employer, or health care provider to participate in any health care system or to purchase health insurance.
Highlight: -States that no person or employer shall be required to pay fines for paying directly for lawful health care services (Art. 16). -States that health care providers shall not be required to pay penalties or fines for accepting direct payment for lawful health care services (Art. 16).
Note:
NOTE: AN AMENDMENT TO THE CONSTITUTION REQUIRES TWO-THIRDS APPROVAL IN EACH CHAMBER FOR PASSAGE. IT MUST THEN BE APPROVED BY A MAJORITY OF CITIZENS VOTING IN THE NEXT ELECTION TO BECOME EFFECTIVE.
